Milestone Week

This week has been a milestone for Mr. Shayden. He has successfully learned how to put himself down for a nap - with a little help from Mommy - and now loves to cuddle up in his crib twice a day for his rest time.

On Sunday he gave us quite a surprise by pulling himself up in his crib and falling onto the slat sides (thankfully on the back or he would have fallen out as we still had the mattress up high - didn't think he could do that at this age). So Daddy came to the rescue and lowered his crib mattress so now we find him standing up in his crib at times waiting for us to come and greet him.

Also this week Shayden has started crawling...oh my word! He isn't the best at it yet but can definitely get himself across a room and loves discovering everything around the house that he can now reach and get into. Can you say 'baby proofing time'...we have some work to do. Here is a video of him strutting his stuff.

6 Months

Over the weekend we had a friend in town that does incredible photography and we hit her up for some 6 months photos of Shayden (and many of his cousins as well). If you are living in MI or OH you should definitely check Abby and her hubby out...they are awesome. Here is a sneak peak she just sent me for us to view - I cannot wait for the final shots.

Thanks Todd and Abby!!!

Strollin' with Claire

Shayden was super pumped this past week to finally get to go for a stroll with his cousin Claire...she has hit the 6 lb mark and is starting to get out and greet the world. We had a blast and just for a comparison shot for you all here they are next to each other.

Our nephew Gabe is awesome, he is 2 this year and recently we were arriving at his house for some birthday parties when we came upon him at the front door - what followed I captured on video and am once again thankful I carry my camera in my purse...this is classic Gabe material!

Ode to Becky:

Since Shayden arrived last fall he has been crazy in love with one of our friends Becky. While he is shy in public and, up until this point, silent on proclaiming his love he has been working for months on ways to show her. I have caught him several times doing things that he thinks she would like and even joined in on a few myself to make him happy. I finally had a heart-to-heart with him and explained that yes while she is waiting for her TBD that she may not be THAT patient. He still said he was ready to let her see what he has been working on and asked for my help so therefore, we give you ...

"To Becky My Love"

Becky and Shayden share a love of music. Shayden loves when Becky updates her blog with new praise and worship music and requests that I download the new tunes immediately. A few months ago Becky linked a song right into her post that has become a hit with Shayden and we have to dance to it each time it comes on - "Live your Life"

For her birthday Becky received a "Slanket" and Shayden insisted we purchase one for him as well...see him chillin below with the remote. Becky he wants you to know that he is ready for movie night whenever you want to hang out.
(he chose the sleeveless option because he thinks he has nice shoulder muscles - hope you dig arms)

Shayden wants you to know that he would be a perfect gentleman on a date and asked me to type this - "Becky, I know I am young and cannot even enjoy this bottle of wine with you but I want you to know that I think I am your "TBD"...".

Shayden's Bench:

Shayden received a very fun gift this week from his Uncle Scott (aka Uncle Poosie). It arrived one evening just as Shayden was getting ready for bed and he loved it immediately. He can't wait to get it outside and play on it in the yard.
Thanks Uncle Scott!
